Default Guild Recruiting

As the game became older and more people were leaving pvp this became harder and harder. With the current set up of fansites the GW community as a whole is completely seperated.

Without an official forum getting the word out about your guild is very hard. Most of the Fansites do not low allow open recruitment. You can post that you are looking for a guild but cannot actively say your guild is recruiting.

The top guilds in GW have been together since beta or shortly after. That is really the key to GvG is how long you've played together and your team is well refined. That is difficult to obtain when your roster is changing every month or guild hopping.

Anet gave us guilds with no support in recruiting. Any have suggestions. My only suggestion is an official forum but Gaile already said no to that one to me in game.

An official forum would me a massive, ponderous demon of a forum. There are regularly thousands and thousands of people on one GW forum or another... Imagine them all together!

One possible solution to the recruiting issue would be to centralize the process somehow - similar to how an auction house mechanic centralizes trading. Give the guild registrars a method of listing guilds, sorted by vocation, size, activity, etc... Or if you want, plunk down a dedicated outpost for it in the Battle Isles. But let people browse guilds in-game, according to a few basic criteria. Then let them leave a message for the respective guild leader or officers, or at least find out their IGN or some other way of contacting them to say, "I am interested in joining the Motley Commune" or whatever.

10000+ people at any given time? Language issues, depending on how it was structured? It'd be cool, it just seems a tad unworkable.

Nothing is impossible but back to topic.

I think an in-game sort of e-mail application system would be kind of nice. Then you could look through them, much like e-mail, and the ones you accept would go on some kind of waiting list or something. Also, Guild officers/leaders could send you messages too perhaps, I don't know.

Depends on what your guild is recruiting for. PvE is a dime a dozon. PvP is much harder to recruit for. People tend to leave much faster in pvp than pve too.

For PvP perhaps an individual player rating system without the actual rank #. Although it'd be quite a hard thing to create, and be extremly impractical, still beats "recruiting players with X+ amount of faction or recruting Rank X+ players", or any combination of the two.

A centralized a guild recruiting system would be awsome. Maybe have something like a bulletin board or something in game that you can put that your guild is recruiting. So that anyone looking for a guild can go there and sort through using different criterias (PVP guild, PVE guild, need Rank 3, need to have certain amount of cash, etc etc etc)

It is indeed very hard to find a good guild (PVP guild I'm looking for, notice what I say to be my guild). I highly doubt that posting on the looking for guild board will help, my message will just get buried very soon within the 25 pages of messages.

A centralized recruting system would be great, but there needs to be some way to matching guilds with members they're looking for, and members with a guild they're looking for. May not be "as" diffucult for PvE guilds, as most PvErs are just looking to have a good time, and aren't that into the competitive aspect of the game(as there isin't a huge one in PvE, except maybe solo/small party farms of hard to farm areas). However for the PvP players there is a significant problem... You not only have to match say activity with desired activity(applies for both recruiting guild and the recruitee), and skill levels. Before anyone here says "that's what rank is for" in regards to the skill level part, let's use Last of Master from EvIL as an example, he's rank 3! Someone in one of the best guilds there is and yet only rank 3... There are many other GvG guilds that have members who are under rank 3, and those guilds are at the top 20 on the ladder. Meaning rank is not an adiquite measure of skill but an adiquite measure of HA experience, making using rank to recruit only really applicable for HA only guilds. Ok, now we have this out of the way, faction is also not an adiquite measure of skill, there are people who goto Random Arenas, and simply keep hitting enter mission to gain their faction, or they have a bot that does it. They do absolutly nothing at all. Not to mention people who only IWAY for fame and get faction, or just do RA alot and haven't even hit 10 wins there. So now total faction is a non-applicable way of determining PvP skill too... Leaving only people from guilds who've played in PUGS with you, or people who know of the guilds you've been in. Making it purely hit and miss in joining a guild of your skill level for many PvPers, so you'll see many keep trading up to guilds with higher and higher rankings... Which takes time, and a bit of luck.

A message board where people can post what they're looking for, and guilds can post what they're looking for etc will certainly help PvE players, without a dbout. But for PvP there's really no way to do it and have good matches with any certainty via a message board. The only option for most is if the guild is open to trying you out in say TA, which is a rarity in and of its self.

The only solution actual solution to this problem would be a guild to recruit matching system that goes by activity level, prefered mode of play, and actual skill. There is currently no way to do so, so any help from Anet would certainly be nice for many.

Recruiting people for a guild is starting to look like an impossible task to me.

I founded my guild about 12 months ago and worked my members total up to 6 people! I try to avoid going around and begging for people to join my guild, since it's not just members I want, but friends.
We kind of set up this system within our guild where every 'full' member is en equal and is therefor made an officer. Each of our members may invite whoever he/she wants. newly invited (the ones with member status) are regarded as recruits. They kind of get a trail period that lets us see if they fit it with the mood of the group, both in personality as skill. after the trail they are promoted to officer and can enjoy our endless money lending and weapon giving support among other things we do as friends.
It seemed like a good idea at the time... it actualy still does, but for a minor setback.

Players just don't seem to have the patience to go trough with all this. I can't imagine why... but for this reason we still only have about 6 people fighting for our name.

Does anyone has a suggestion? Surely it helps to have some form of status like a certain rank to get people to stay, but you need at least 8 people to even try a GvG.

In my view, guilds have too poor options ingame. My suggestions go in the sense of petitions of more ingame features related to guilds*.

So my view is that to get more communication with guilds there is a need of more ingame features related to guilds. Somewhat,... allow me to write a joke: Thinking that whispering, general chat , invitation, ... are enough is like thinking that we may go walking, in bus, and swiming, or sailing from Chicago, or Kansas City to Pushan or Kyoto just because there is water, land and some roads in between.

Cordially.

P.S.:
*Note: I wrote them for you here:
I. a social chat channel for players LFGuild and for guilds LFPlayers.
II. a join request feature for players who want to ask for membership to a guild.
III. an ingame feature to read the guilds rank listing.
IV. an ingame feature like a search engine for looking for information about guilds. Kind of information: number of members, name of guild, emblem of the guild, name of the guild hall, purpose of the guild (story missions and quests, GvG, PvP, HA, farming,...), looking for members yes/no, ...
For example, if you search for "GvG" + "looking for members yes" then you get a list of guilds.

Well true. Most of ours are pve. Just recently been concentrating on pvp people. Still got those few pretty quick.

the net fan base of this game haven't dropped...
you should notice there are many people in RA with no guild and there are a lot guilds with only a few members...

There is primarily because celetial sigil is too easy to obtain now.

An in game guild search?

Something like......

Search for a Guild with the following attributes:

[] PvP
[] Team Arena
[] Hall of Heroes
[] Guild vs Guild
[] PvE
[] Runners
[] Mission/Quest Helpers
[] Farmers
[] Experienced Players
[] New Players
Guild Rank between [________] and [__________]
Average Guild Member Rank [_]
[] [Your keyword search here]

You guild would have an "open" and "closed" status. Open would put you on the list and you set up your search options.
